Economics Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) student Javier discusses the benefits of studying at UEA.

My name is Javier, I’m an Economics student at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and I’m currently halfway through my year abroad at the University of East Anglia.

The first months have been amazing for me. When I first came here, I was not expecting to find such an amazing campus full of kind staff and students. Anytime I have needed a problem solving, everybody I have asked have been willing to help.

In my opinion, Norwich is a perfect city for students. It has everything we need and it is not as crowded as big European capitals. What I most like about it is the environment you can find. People in the city try to make you feel one of them, they always ask you how everything is going and if you need any help.

With regards to UEA, I can say lots of amazing facts about it. In Spain we are not used to a campus that offers so many activities and facilities. The student environment is just incredible; there are so many ways you can get on with different people and cultures such as societies, sport teams, events, Do Something Different Week, Fresher’s Week…

I have also experienced another way of learning the degree content; the modules are not as focused on theory and attending to a lot of lessons as I am used to. UEA wants you to work a lot out of the classes by your own and by groups, which is enriching for me.

I strongly recommend anyone who is thinking of studying abroad to come to UEA!
